Terms
Terms of office are for four years. The current term extends from November 2021 to September 2025.
Mayor’s Role
The Mayor is Head of Council and presides at all meetings of Council and represents it at official functions. The Mayor is an ex-officio member of all committees of Council.
Deputy Mayor’s Role
In the absence or incapacity of the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor has the powers and shall exercise the duties of the Mayor.
Councillors’ Roles
Councillors represent the interests of the citizens of Kippens. They bring, discuss and vote on proposed regulatory matters, municipal projects and decisions to be made by the Council and act as liaison between Council and the community citizens. Councillors participate in various committees in the municipality and act as liaison between these and council.

I have proudly served on the Kippen’s council in a number of capacities. I was a councillor for 8 years and the Mayor for four.
The council needs consistency and stability. The community needs a leader who respects the employees and members of the council. This person has to communicate effectively with all members of the council and the people of the community. This person needs to be a strong, dependable voice, a person who is able to avail of opportunities for development and to explore and identify the paths by which this development can occur.
It is my intention to work with local and provincial levels of government to ensure that Kippens has a voice, that Kippens moves forward. As well, I welcome the opportunity to work with and serve the people of Kippens in an effort to recognize and develop the potential of the community.

Eric has been a resident of Kippens since 2001. He has recently retired from a career in education, first in teaching at the local high school, and more recently with the College of the North Atlantic in Doha, Qatar. His education is grounded in organizations and organizational structure, and he hopes to use and apply this knowledge during his tenure as a Councillor. Eric is approachable and, as a representative of the residents of Kippens, looks forward hearing of the concerns of the citizens, and voicing those concerns at the council table.

In 2013 I retired from a 36-year career in the federal and provincial public service where I worked with government departments responsible for human resource development, employment, and labour market programming. My roles with these government departments were primarily in a leadership, advisory, and management capacity.
